Luxury Watchmaker Laurent Ferrier Comes to India

India is fast emerging as a significant player in the global luxury market. The country's growing economy, a burgeoning middle class, and increasing disposable income have been contributing to a rise in luxury consumption, according to experts. Seems people are becoming more and more brand-conscious and are willing to splurge on premium and luxury goods. Many international luxury brands are recognising the potential of the Indian market and are expanding their presence in the country. This includes setting up flagship stores and participating in high-profile events. One such event was hosted by Ethos Watches in New Delhi for their new partner: luxury watchmaker Laurent Ferrier, which has now entered the retailer's portfolio.

The current selection on offer includes Classic, Sport, Square, and Grand Sport variants, the prices of which range between INR 38,20,000 and INR 2,59,90,000*. These timepieces were showcased at the Delhi event, attended by watch collectors and mediapersons, over champagne and hors d'oeuvre. 

Speaking to GMT India, Robert Bailey, Head of Sales, Laurent Ferrier, said, “We have launched our Watches and Wonders collection with the Micro-Rotor Evergreen dial. It comes in a rose gold, square case.” He added, “The watch is powered by our natural escapement and micro rotor. Here, the two escapements are directly connected and don’t go through a Swiss lever, which leads to direct transfer of force, leading in turn to greater efficiency and longer power reserve. Normally, on a micro rotor, you get a power reserve of 48 hours; we get 72 hours of power reserve from this movement.”

Bailey also revealed that a busy innovation pipeline could be expected from the brand soon. “In 2024, we will have a new watch coming up; it's an evolution of a movement with an added complication,” he explained. “In 2025, we will have a new line with an existing movement that we have put in a different kind of a case. In 2026, there will be two lines coming together and in 2027, we will have a big launch — it's going to be a brand new watch, a brand new complication.”

Laurent Ferrier is a luxury watch brand, founded in 2009 by Laurent Ferrier, a third-generation watchmaker. The brand, headquartered in Plan-les-Ouates in the canton of Geneva, Switzerland, is known for its classic and elegant timepieces, which are handmade.
