Emile Hermès, the family patriarch, created the brand's first watch by adding leather straps to a pocket watch as a consequence of producing a wristwatch for his daughter. Hermès has been creating "guardians of time" in collaboration with the biggest names in Swiss watchmaking for almost 50 years. In 1978, La Montre Hermès SA opened production facilities in Biel, Switzerland. Hermes has now expanded and developed its autonomous production resources, resulting in a comprehensive array of classically exquisite timepieces.
