Egg-citing Update: H. Moser & Cie. Serves Up the Pioneer Centre Seconds Sunny-Side Up Variant

Bold and expressive colours are a defining hallmark of H. Moser & Cie., pushing the boundaries of traditional Swiss watchmaking with an audacious yet refined palette. Known for its pared-back dials and minimalist design language, the brand uses colour not just as decoration, but as a powerful form of identity as well. Take, for instance, the Streamliner Centre Seconds in Matrix Green — a watch that pairs a sleek case and integrated bracelet with a dial that radiates a deep, almost iridescent green. It’s a colour that demands attention, yet remains tasteful. Similarly, the Pioneer Centre Seconds in Arctic Blue brings vibrant coolness to the wrist, combining technical prowess with a striking, ice-toned hue. Making a bolder colour statement is the new Pioneer Centre Seconds Sunny-Side Up (Ref. 3201-1200). Indeed, the watch face can remind one of a gleaming egg yolk!

So, which came first — the chicken or the egg? It's the age-old riddle that has scrambled minds for centuries, cracking open debates in science, philosophy, and pubs alike. Some say the egg laid the groundwork, born of evolution long before the modern chicken strutted onto the scene. Others swear the chicken had to hatch first to lay the egg. The new Pioneer Centre Seconds Sunny-Side Up seems to playfully embody this eternal enigma, with its vibrant dial sparking curiosity and delight, much like the riddle itself!

This 40 mm watch has a stainless steel case, lugs, and a crown at 3 o’clock with a polished bezel. The yellow fumé dial with a sunburst pattern (radiating a golden sunburst of yolk colour at the centre to a darker hue on the outer periphery) has the H. Moser & Cie. logo in transparent lacquer at 12 o’clock; faceted applique hour markers with dots in Super-LumiNova®, along with double dotted markings at 12 o'clock; leaf-shaped hour, minute hands, filled with Super-LumiNova®; and a floating central second hand featuring a signature openworked counterweight.

Powering the watch is Calibre HMC 201 with an automatic bidirectional pawl winding system offering a 72-hour (three days) power reserve. Turning the watch showcases the exhibition caseback. This movement has the Original Straumann® hairspring, anthracite finishings with Moser double stripes and partially skeletonised bridges, and an engraved oscillating weight. This watch is finished on a white rubber strap with a steel pin buckle, engraved with the H. Moser & Cie. logo. An optional steel bracelet is also available.
