Frederique Constant Introduces the Revamped Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture at Watches and Wonders 2025

When it was unveiled in 2016, the Frederique Constant Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture stood out for being the most affordable perpetual calendar timepiece on the market. It acted as a shining example of democratisation in the world of watches by making high-end complications available to enthusiasts at reasonable price points. Since its unveiling, the Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture has continued to push boundaries in terms of quality, component finishes, and technical features. At Watches and Wonders 2025, Frederique Constant has presented the model in a new, improved avatar.

Housed within a 40 mm steel case, the new reference (FC-776SAL3H6) sports a salmon-hued dial and is powered by a brand new movement: Manufacture FC-776 calibre, the 34th one developed in-house by the brand with an impressive three-day power reserve, following a 2024 development of the 706-716 calibres. It beats at a frequency of 4Hz. The new case has gentler and slimmer lines that amplify the compact, versatile visual appeal of the 40 mm case. Effortlessly elegant, the aesthetics embody a distinct harmony that is accentuated by the minimalism of the dial components and the overall restraint depicted in the design contours.

The new salmon shade of the dial amplifies the subtle visual harmony. The two hand-assembled and hand-polished Dauphine hands add a refined touch as do the hour markers that are now more slender. The ‘sector dial’ minute track brings to mind the aesthetic choices of vintage timepieces from yesteryears; the old-world charm seamlessly adapts to the contemporary minimalism of the watch face. Devoid of hours and minutes numerals, the dial offers ample room for the three perpetual calendar displays set against the sunburst backdrop: months and leap years at 12 o’clock, days at 9 o’clock, and the date display at 3 o’clock. Each of the counters is very slightly stepped, thus adding a subtle texture. The salmon shade of the dial also acts as the perfect backdrop for the moonphase that appears at 6 o’clock.

The dark brown alligator leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching completes the vintage-inspired look of the timepiece.
