Elevating Timekeeping: New Releases from Gérald Genta, Daniel Roth, and Tiffany & Co. at LVMH Watch Week 2025

The slew of new releases at LVMH Watch Week 2025 has been making heads turn, and with good reason. Be it TAG Heuer or Zenith, the luxury group’s biggest watchmaking brands, the novelties have been receiving numerous accolades. However, some of the other new launches that caught GMT India’s attention include the ones from Gérald Genta, Daniel Roth, and Tiffany & Co. Here’s what truly impressed us.

Gérald Genta Gentissima Oursin Fire Opal

Fourth in the Gentissima Oursin series, this limited-edition timepiece represents the perfect coming together of Genta’s trail-blazing legacy and the brand’s constant endeavours to push watchmaking boundaries. The latest addition to the Oursin (French for “sea urchin”), this stunner directly draws inspiration from the sea creature by showcasing the spiny, globular exteriors in a round case adorned with beads that give the watch its particular aesthetic. Flaunting an orange cornelian dial that echoes the warm hues of the fire opal gems, the Gentissima Oursin Fire Opal is, undoubtedly, the most flamboyant piece of the collection yet. With a diameter of about 36 mm, the case in yellow gold 3N features a glass-blasted finish, contrasting with the brilliance of the 137 fire opals individually screwed into the case, one by one with a yellow gold 3N pin. The one-of-a-kind watch is the perfect embodiment of Genta’s classic design principles but with a distinct, modern twist.

Daniel Roth Extra Plat Souscription

Reminiscent of the template established by the Tourbillon Souscription, the Extra Plat Souscription (limited to 20 pieces) is faithful to the original model from the 1990s in style and craft. The gorgeous dress watch is housed in an 18 ct yellow gold case matched with an 18 ct yellow gold dial, decorated with handmade Clous de Paris guilloché. While it bears the same measurements as the Tourbillon, the case is thinner, measured at a svelte 7.70 mm, a result of the ultra-thin DR002 movement (that takes the elliptical shape of the case itself) with its 3.1 mm thickness. The DR002, the second movement conceived by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton for the brand, beautifully honours the watchmaking legacy of Daniel Roth. The movement remains concealed beneath a solid 18 ct yellow gold caseback, doubling up as a tribute to the past too: the original Extra Plat watches were similarly equipped with solid backs.

Tiffany & Co.

For its first participation in the LVMH Watch Week, Tiffany & Co. chose to reveal new timepieces, in addition to showcasing models from four of its jewellery watch collections — Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany, Carat 128, HardWear by Tiffany, and Eternity by Tiffany — as well as clocks from its Time Objects collection. The following are the models that stood out.

Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Flying Tourbillon

Drawing inspiration from the celebrated Bird on a Rock brooch, created for Tiffany & Co. by Jean Schlumberger in 1965, this watch — that houses the brand’s first flying tourbillon movement — marks a step forward in the brand’s evolution into high watchmaking. A stunning fusion of both technical skills and artistic disciplines of watchmaking and jewellery, the timepiece features a dial of natural turquoise, a diamond-set subdial displaying hours and minutes, a pair of diamond-set birds in flight, and a flying tourbillon mechanism housed beneath a faceted sapphire crystal dome. The 39 mm watch will be produced in a limited edition of 25 pieces.

Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Twenty Four Stone

A new expression of the House’s celebrated Sixteen Stone collection, this 39 mm watch, which is set with a total of 707 diamonds, sports a gorgeous dial with a rotating ring decorated with a cross-stitch motif in 18 ct yellow gold. The dial is made in two segments: a fixed central disc and an outer ring that features the Sixteen Stone collection’s signature cross-stitch motif in 18 ct yellow gold with 24 round brilliant diamonds. The rotating ring, which spins freely with every gesture of the wearer’s wrist, creates a sense of movement that was typical of several of Jean Schlumberger’s designs. The 18 ct yellow gold hands that match the yellow gold of the cross-stitches, contrast perfectly with the diamonds, creating a unique visual spectacle. There will be limited production of the Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Twenty Four Stone watch each year.
