Divine Inspiration: Chopard Unveils Two Special Edition Timepieces Devoted to Lord Ganesh

Celebrating craftsmanship and heritage, exclusive timepieces from the brand are eagerly awaited by collectors the world over. This year, the Maison has portrayed Lord Ganesh, the elephant-headed god of wisdom and prosperity in the Hindu pantheon, on the dials of two special edition timepieces: the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 Ganesh Edition and the L.U.C XP Urushi Ganesh Edition.

The L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 Ganesh Edition

The L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 Ganesh Edition is majestic, inside out. This five-piece limited edition features a delicate Grand Feu enamel dial, entirely produced in-house by Chopard Manufacture's enamelling artisan. This splendid dial is housed in a 40 mm case that retains the L.U.C collection’s distinctively sleek lines and is crafted from ethical 18 ct rose gold. The timepiece is run by an innovative L.U.C 98.06-L movement that is equipped with four barrels, based on the exclusive Chopard Quattro technology, delivering a power reserve of up to eight days. 

The L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 Ganesh Edition is a rare jumping-hour watch that enjoys a high degree of autonomy. The timepiece’s technical finesse, displaying rare artistic crafts, has been rewarded with the Poinçon de Genève. The Poinçon de Genève is a certificate awarded to timepieces with remarkable finishes and decorative details. This highly coveted label is awarded exclusively to a few watchmaking creations, whose beauty provides the perfect setting for a flawlessly functioning mechanism. 

The components of this L.U.C watch have been entirely created and produced in-house – from the movement to the dial on which the hours aperture appears at 6 o'clock, thanks to the artistic crafts, mastered by the artisans of the Manufacture. The timepiece offers precise adjustments, wearer comfort, and readability. The movement bridges are entirely adorned with the Côtes de Genève motif and finely bevelled components, making the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 Ganesh Edition a sophisticated timepiece from both aesthetic and technical perspectives. The watch is presented on a hand-sewn matte brown alligator leather strap, with cognac-coloured alligator leather lining, boasting a polished and satin-brushed pin buckle crafted in ethical 18 ct rose gold.

The L.U.C XP Urushi Ganesh Edition 

A limited edition of 10 pieces, the L.U.C XP Urushi Ganesh Edition is an incredible medley of gold, mother of pearl and lacquer, mechanics, and unique craftsmanship. The timepiece features a 39.5 mm case in ethical 18 ct rose gold, framing a dial portraying Lord Ganesh. Its beauty is accentuated by Urushi lacquer. The dial has been made by a Japanese artisan, drawing on centuries of expertise in the Maki-e technique, lending symbolism and a sense of prosperity to this coveted edition. The 10 iterations, intended for the L.U.C XP Urushi Ganesh Edition, are produced by the workshops of the century-old company, Yamada Heiando — a meticulous task requiring no less than 20 hours of work for each watch. 

The watch is run by an ultra-thin L.U.C Calibre 96.17-L with automatic winding via a micro-rotor. The movement is endowed with a 65-hour power reserve that is a testament to the watchmaking expertise of Chopard Manufacture’s skilled artisans. The 22 ct gold micro-rotor offers strong inertia that ensures efficient winding of the two barrels, which are stacked as per the Chopard Twin technology. The watch remains on time and accurate for more than two-and-a-half days, perfectly corresponding to a long weekend. The timepiece is presented on a hand-sewn navy blue alligator leather strap with nubuck lining and a pin buckle in polished ethical 18-carat rose gold.
