Yema Launches the New Superman 500 Dato Collection in Two Colours
Continuing to upgrade its stylish Superman collection, one of the finest watch series from France, Yema has just launched the new Superman 500 Dato variants. This year, the brand has added two new colours to the collection — white and military green. The famed collection that was born in 1963 soon gained worldwide popularity. In fact, it became Yema’s star collection in no time. The idea behind launching the Superman collection was to introduce a watch that would be more accessible and pocket-friendly, compared with other renowned diver’s watches. In a way, the collection was resurrected in 2018, with the timepiece maker unveiling new models with modern specifications that enhance the old-school design.
The 39 mm, white-dial watch of the new Yema Superman 500 Dato collection includes a steel bracelet (Ref. YSUP23A39-BMS) and an optional FKM rubber strap (Ref. YSUP23A39-BRBS). Wearers can also opt for a 41 mm variant with a steel bracelet (Ref. YSUP23A41-BMS) and an FKM rubber strap (Ref. YSUP23A41-BRBS).
The 39 mm, green-dial models include steel bracelets (Ref.YSUP23A39-ZMS) with optional FKM rubber straps (Ref.YSUP23A39-ZRBS). One can also opt for a 41 mm variant with a steel bracelet (Ref.YSUP23A41-ZMS) and an FKM rubber strap (Ref. YSUP23A41-ZRBS).
Last year, Yema launched the Superman 500 timepiece that combined the best of two worlds — a diver’s watch coupled with GMT. Needless to say, this brand with utmost professional specifications is also meant for a larger audience of collectors and recreational divers. In the past, the Superman 500 has seen multiple variations which also include a limited-edition Destro watch.
The newly launched Yema Superman 500 Dato collection has kept the signature designs intact. The 39 mm and 41 mm stainless steel watches now come with a revised bezel-lock feature and crown for smooth functioning. The unidirectional bezel of each watch gets aluminium inserts with a bead marker at 12 o’clock, complete with Super-LumiNova. While the white dial gets a sand effect, the green one has a simple look with a shiny texture. Each variant has a beige (for the green dial) or white (for the white dial) inverted marker for 12 o’clock, bar-shaped ones for 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock and 8 dotted hour markers with a date window at 3 o'clock. The green dial gets beige hour, minute and second hands while the white dial gets white hour, minute and shovel second hands with a red dot; all come with Super-LumiNova. Both have double domed sapphire crystal glasses.
Powering each watch is the in-house, self-winding Caliber YEMA2000, with optimised components and a power reserve of 42 hours. Turning each watch over showcases a closed caseback with YEMA's historic crest, embossed with a hydraulic press. This is now treated with various microblasting processes. Each Yema Superman 500 Dato watch is delivered in a leather travel case, along with a two-year international warranty on leather.
