Trilobe’s New Une Folle Journée Diamant and Dune Collections Shone Bright at Watches and Wonders 2023

Launched in 2018 at the Musée des Arts et Métiers, an industrial design museum in Paris, Trilobe is an independent watchmaker that creates unique timepieces offering innovative ways of viewing time. At this year’s edition of Watches and Wonders in Geneva, the brand showcased its new Une Folle Journée Diamant and Dune collections, each featuring high jewellery on three rotating rings.

Une Folle Journée Diamant

Trilobe released two 40 mm timepieces in this particular collection: one with a grey dial in a platinum case (Ref. UFJ04DA) and another with a salmon dial in a rose gold (Ref. UFJ02DD) case.

The exposed mechanism and high jewellery are undoubtedly the salient features of the watches. Each piece has 150 baguette diamonds; 70 diamonds are there on the hours ring, 50 diamonds on the minute ring, and 30 on the seconds ring. The three rotating rings create a dazzling light show as they move, with the innermost ring completing one circle per minute. The bridges are in black gold or gold.

Now let us see how the time is read. The wearer must follow the rings as they pass the arrow at 6 o’clock. The outermost ring indicates the hours, followed by the minutes and seconds on the middle and the innermost ring respectively. The hand-painted Arabic hour markers are placed on the outer periphery while the minute and second rings are not marked. The watches come with push-button crowns.

Powering the watches is the in-house self-winding, automatic Calibre X-Centric with 48 hours of power reserve. Turning each watch over reveals the sapphire caseback with a microrotor. Finishing each watch is an alligator leather strap with a pin buckle in titanium.

Une Folle Journée Dune

The salmon dial makes its debut in the Une Folle Journée Dune collection either in titanium or rose gold 40 mm cases. Using the same movement as that of the Diamant collection, the rose gold model gets a pink-on-pink display and the titanium model gets a dark grey ring. The watches are finished on leather straps with titanium pin buckles.

In a nutshell, Trilobe Une Folle Journée timepieces are born to dazzle.
