Summer Vibes: Introducing the New Maurice Lacroix Aikon Collection in New Colours
Summer is an ideal time for watch brands to debut new models boasting brilliant colours. The warmer months evoke a sense of adventure and fun, and, therefore, manufacturers make use of the season's excitement to release limited editions or special collections that capture the essence of summer. Generally, such collections are characterised by materials and colours that represent the beach, the sun, and outdoor activities. The new Aikon Quartz Colours Edition watches are among the summer releases this year that invite the fashion-forward to show off a vibrant look. To be precise, Maurice Lacroix has added three new references to the collection in two sizes and two dial colours, and with and without diamonds.
In 2016, Maurice Lacroix debuted the Aikon, an urban-themed watch with a quartz mechanism. Its style was significantly influenced by the Calypso, a well-known model created by the brand in the 1990s. Since the debut of the first Aikon reference, the model has grown to include enhanced finishes as well as additional colours, sizes, materials, and complexities.
For the brand, summer fashion often embraces bright and bold colours, as watches in bright hues can serve as stylish accessories that enhance the overall look and feel of one’s summer attire. For this summer edition, the timepiece maker chose the classical Aikon Automatic time and date model, revealed a few years ago, and added fashionable colours that bring vacation time closer. The 35 mm and 40 mm cases are made of stainless steel, brushed and polished; the crown and the lugs consist of the same material.
The 35 mm case option features light blue and pink dials. Each of these smaller models also features 56 diamonds and rhodium plating for the hour markers. The 40 mm model has a light blue dial with rhodium hour markers. All three models have rhodium-plated white Super-LumiNova for the hour, minute hands and also rhodium plating for the second hand. The newly launched collection showcases a matte dial pattern, with the date window at 3 o’clock. Also, common to all novelties is the bezel that features the six “claws” design.
Powering the watches is a quartz movement and there’s a special engraving on the caseback. Finishing each watch is a stainless steel bracelet. As with all Aikon watches, these models incorporate the brand’s Easy Strap Exchange System, allowing for a simple and user-friendly strap-to-bracelet swap without needing tools.
While the Swiss company has embraced the concept of constant improvement, it has never strayed from delivering great perceived value, an attribute that has garnered the love of many Maurice Lacroix wearers over the years ― the latest references bear testimony to this.
