Ressence Unveils the TYPE 3 EE in Eucalyptus Green

The latest addition to the TYPE 3 range by Ressence — just revealed at the ongoing Geneva Watch Days — has a touch of the unconventional. The oil-filled TYPE 3 EE flaunts a striking new colour, Eucalyptus Green, and evokes lush forests and outdoor living, a fresh complement to the collection’s existing TYPE 3 Black and White watches. 

When first launched in 2013, the TYPE 3 took the industry by storm as the first ever oil-filled mechanical watch, and went on to win the “Horological Revelation” Prize at GPHG the same year. The TYPE 3 timepieces stay true to Ressence’s unique design emblems, including the crown-free case design and the edge-to-edge sapphire crystal on both front and back of the watch, resembling a smooth pebble, and this new TYPE 3 EE in Eucalyptus Green, stays true to that aesthetic spirit. 

How the oil-filled mechanism of the TYPE 3 watches works is as follows: it cancels out the distortion caused by the refraction of light, ensuring impeccable readability from all angles. The upper chamber — which holds 3.75 ml of oil — creates a magnified projection effect that gives the illusion of information displayed directly on the glass. Due to this, the TYPE 3 offers a crystal-clear display ensuring easy readability, regardless of lighting. All the engraved indications are filled with blue Super-LumiNova® that amps up the overall legibility. The oil, though it aids the display, is also sensitive to temperature variations. To make sure that the oil’s expansion or contraction is maintained under varying thermal conditions, Ressence has developed an innovative Bellow System. This self-equilibrating pressure-balance system ensures that an even pressure is maintained, thus preventing any negative impact on performance. The new TYPE 3 EE in Eucalyptus Green employs the same mechanism as well.

Beyond the new colour, the 44 mm titanium-cased watch introduces new details that include the hour disc that has been graphically simplified with indexes every two hours. Weekend days and oil temperature indications on the convex Grade 5 titanium dial present new pastel tones as well. Powered by the self-winding Patented ROCS 3 – Ressence Orbital Convex System driven by a customised 2824/2 caliber, the watch has a 36-hour power reserve. It sits on a grey honeycomb strap with a titanium ardillon buckle.

The TYPE 3 EE in Eucalyptus Green will be available worldwide from early October 2023 via Ressence’s official retailer network.
