Power Duo Panerai and Brabus Are Back with Verde Militare Edition
Collaborations between watchmakers and automobile brands have stood the test of time. In fact, there have been many success stories when it comes to this synergistic relationship. Take Panerai and BRABUS. While the timepiece maker is known for its close association with the Italian Navy, BRABUS’s ‘Black Ops’ line of day boats is a stupendous feat.
Last year, the two brands showcased a second edition of their Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Blue Shadow Edition (PAM01241), a 200-piece limited edition watch. The watch was inspired by the BRABUS Shadow series of boats and came in a 47 mm titanium case.
This year, taking the partnership ahead, Panerai and BRABUS have released a third edition, the Panerai x BRABUS Submersible S BRABUS Verde Militare Edition, also limited to 200 pieces, like its predecessors. A Panerai signature version, the watch features a 47 mm Carbotech case, an anti-clockwise rotating bezel and a CarbotechTM safety lock crown with a protection device. This material is based on carbon fibre and is said to be lighter than steel or titanium and resistant to corrosion.
The skeleton dial gets a stealth green hue. The sword-shaped hour hand is also green in colour with green Super-LumiNovaTM treatment that extends to the dotted and bar-shaped hour markers. The minute hand gets a blue Super-LumiNovaTM coating. The watch has eight dotted and three bar-shaped hour markers with a date window at 3 o’clock. The watch is a GMT and thus comes with a day/night indicator combined with a small seconds hand at 9 o’clock. There is a BRABUS logo engraved at 7 o'clock. The blue dot on the bezel also gets the Super-LumiNovaTM coating.
Like the previous model, the skeleton movement on the Panerai Submersible S BRABUS Verde Militare Edition gets Calibre P.4001/S automatic movement that delivers a power reserve of 72 hours or three days. Turning the watch over shows the titanium screw with a DLC coating and a skeleton sapphire caseback with an off-centred oscillating weight in tungsten, thereby making the watch thinner and lighter. There is a power reserve indicator with DLC green coating as well.
The watch offers a 300-metre water resistance and is completed on a calf rubber, bimaterial, black strap with green stitching and a trapezoidal titanium buckle with a DLC coating.
