Maurice Lacroix Unveils Redesigned Pontos Day-Date Watches
Pontos watches have always been looked at as sophisticated dress watches that show technical and artistic finesse. These watches are not too formal but possess a unique identity of their own. Therefore, Pontos watches have always commanded a formidable following among watch collectors. After unveiling its Pontos Chronograph in 43mm stainless steel collection, Maurice Lacroix has just launched a new set of Pontos with redesigned 41mm stainless steel cases, featuring a day-date complication. Indeed the latest Maurice Lacroix Pontos day-date 41mm offerings are a class apart.
The Pontos is a signature collection from Maurice Lacroix and the last update was carried out in 2020. This version has evolved and there have been different interpretations. This year, the luxury timepiece maker is offering the Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date 41mm series with three new dials, making the collection all the more sophisticated.
What remains unchanged is the case — the 41mm stainless steel brushed and polished case remains intact. One of the key noticeable features is the crown that looks as if the case is protecting it. Also, the lugs feature a double step layout with a circular bezel. The minute track now takes the centre stage rather than being just on the outer periphery.
First in the collection are Ref. (PT6358-SS002-230-1) and Ref. (PT6358-SS001-230-2) that are similar models. Each model has a silver sunray dial with an anthracite central ring and a white solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) index, with the day of the week at 12 o'clock and a date window with black numerals at 6 o'clock. These references come with golden trapezoidal hour markers and gold faceted hour and minute hands with white SLN coating and gold second hands. The only difference lies in the straps — Ref. (PT6358-SS002-230-1) has a three-row stainless steel bracelet while Ref. (PT6358-SS001-230-2) has a black alligator imitation leather strap with a golden M logo.
Next in the collection are Ref. (PT6358-SS002-334-1) and Ref.(PT6358-SS001-332-2). These Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Limited Edition 41mm watches have black sunray dials with rhodium central rings with white SLN coating. The day of the week is at 12 o'clock and the black background date window is at 6 o'clock. The models come with rhodium faceted hour and minute hands with white coating, and a rhodium second hand. These models also come with trapezoidal, rhodium-coated hour markers, rhodium-coated hour, minute and second hands with SLN coating. While Ref. (PT6358-SS002-334-1) is finished on a three-row stainless steel bracelet, Ref. (PT6358-SS001-332-2) is finished on a black alligator imitation leather strap with a rhodium M logo.
Last in the collection are more luxurious Ref. (PT6358-SS002-333-1) and Ref. (PT6358-SS001-333-2). These Maurice Lacroix Pontos Day-Date Limited Edition 41mm watches have anthracite sunray dials with golden central rings and golden SLN indexes. The day of the week is at 12 o'clock and a date window with white numerals is at 6 o'clock. The watches come with golden trapezoidal hour markers and golden-faceted hour and minute hands with white SLN coating and golden second hands. While Ref. (PT6358-SS001-333-2) has a black alligator imitation leather strap with a golden M logo, Ref. (PT6358-SS002-333-1) has a three-row stainless steel bracelet.
Powering these watches is the in-house Automatic Calibre ML143 with 38 hours of power reserve. Turning these watches over reveals the sapphire open casebacks with vertical Côtes de Genève, rhodium-plated and sun-brushed oscillating weights. All models come with an easy strap exchange system; one can switch between a strap and a bracelet.
