Jacob & Co. Celebrates the Grandeur of India with Two New Astronomia Pièces Unique

Jacob & Co.'s Astronomia line is a ground-breaking achievement in haute horology. Introduced as a statement of both technical prowess and cosmic inspiration, the collection reinvents traditional watchmaking with its mesmerising 3D movements, orbiting tourbillons, and elaborate, celestial-themed complications. As one of Jacob & Co.'s most prominent and recognisable collections, Astronomia is crucial to the brand because it represents timepieces that are as much works of art as technical wonders. India too holds great importance for the timepiece maker as the country represents a thriving horological landscape as well as a rich cultural heritage. The two newly launched Astronomia Tourbillon India novelties in white gold (Ref. AT102.30.AA.UB.ABALA) and rose gold (Ref. AT102.40.AA.UB.ABALA) ― both pièces unique ― acknowledge the country’s significant impact on the world of horology.

The two new Jacob & Co. Astronomia variants come either on a 50 mm 18 ct white gold case or an 18 ct rose gold one; both have lugs but no physical crown at 3 o’clock. The titanium, hand angled and polished dial gets lacquered blue Jacob & Co.-designed hands, and Roman numeral hour markers for 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock. The dial comprises a magnesium blue lacquered globe that rotates on itself in 60 seconds and a one-carat exclusive Jacob cut® diamond rotating on itself in 60 seconds; a double axis tourbillon ― the first cage rotates in 60 seconds and the second in five minutes; and 3D, hand-engraved, and hand-painted images of historic Indian landmarks (Taj Mahal, Lotus Temple, India Gate, and Qutb Minar) on an aventurine base. Overall, the system is a vertical movement with four arms.

Powering the watches is the in-house manual winding Calibre JCAM25, crafted in titanium and offering a 60-hour power reserve. The closed caseback of each watch is in either 18 ct white gold or 18 ct rose gold, sporting the special engravings of ‘Astronomia India’ and ‘Pièce Unique’. These timepieces do not feature any visible crown; the movement is wound and time is set via two flip-up rotating bows on the caseback that are in the same material as that of the case. The watches are finished on alligator leather straps, each with a folding buckle matching the respective case material.

The Astronomia Tourbillon India novelties will appeal to Indian watch enthusiasts who seek quality timepieces that celebrate unique craftsmanship and legacy. These watches are set to further strengthen Jacob & Co.’s presence in India's expanding luxury market.
