From Shah Rukh Khan to Zendaya: Here’s How Celebs Upped their Wrist Game at the NMACC Gala
The inauguration of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) was a star-studded affair. NMACC, India’s first-of-its-kind, multidisciplinary cultural space, opened in Mumbai on March 31 this year. The two-day launch event showcased the best of Indian music, theatre and fine arts. With international celebrities, such as Gigi Hadid, Tom Holland and Zendaya, joining the celebration, the gala brought Bollywood and Hollywood closer together. Needless to say, the celebs brought their A game on the red carpet, where their exquisite timepieces stole the show as well.
GMT India takes a closer look at how some of them upped their wrist game at NMACC:
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Priyanka Chopra Jonas paired her shimmery ensemble with the stunning BVLGARI BVLGARI Serpenti Incantati (Ref: 102535) watch, which has breathed new life into the Maison’s iconic Serpenti motif. Even in the form of a dainty jewellery watch, the masterpiece attests to the high degree of technical expertise demonstrated by master artisans at Bvlgari’s high jewellery ateliers. The watch comes in a diamond-set white gold 30 mm case with a satin strap or a matching jewellery bracelet. The snake’s tail wraps the wrist and coils itself around it, with a kind of flexibility and a sense of movement that can be expected of the Maison’s jewellery creations.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan looked dapper in an all-black ensemble, paired with a Rolex Daytona (Ref. - 116589 BRIL) watch to complete the look. The watch, finished on a brown leather strap, features an 18 ct white gold case with a meteorite dial. The bezel is studded with 24 baguette diamonds while the dial is accentuated by Roman white gold applied numerals and contrasting red chronograph hands. The 40 mm timepiece simply looks mesmerising, thanks to the light grey nuances of the meteorite dial. It is powered by the Rolex 4130 calibre.
Zendaya
The Euphoria actor sported a midnight blue sari, created by Indian designer Rahul Mishra. Matching her embellished gold blouse was a Bvlgari Serpenti watch (Ref. 103561). The Serpenti Misteriosi High Jewellery secret watch features a 40 mm case in 18 ct white and yellow gold. The case and the bracelet are set with brilliant-cut diamonds while the dial is studded with two pear-cut emeralds and pavé-set diamonds. Gracefully coiling itself around the wrist, the watch is powered by the in-house micro-calibre Piccolissimo, one of the smallest mechanical movements to date. The watch comes with a power reserve of 30 hours.
Nick Jonas
The musician-actor paired his all-black ensemble with a Richard Mille watch. The RM 11-01 Automatic Flyback Chronograph “Roberto Mancini'' timepiece sports an 18 ct red gold case. With meaty 50.0 mm x 42.70 mm dimensions and measuring 16.15 mm in thickness, the watch is ergonomically finished with a slight curvature to ensure a comfortable fit on the wrist. The watch also features the signature Richard Mille tonneau dial that is specially designed to time a football match. The dial displays match time on the basis of two 45-minute halves and up to 15 minutes of stoppage time. The RM 11-01 is equipped with Calibre RMAC1, which powers the timekeeping system, an annual calendar complication with an oversized date window and the flyback chronograph complication.
Arjun Kapoor
Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor was nattily dressed in a custom-made, double-breasted black suit, created by Indian designer Anamika Khanna. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph QEII 2018 Cup (Ref 2647 4TI.OO.1000TI.01) watch he wore fitted perfectly into the ensemble. The watch sports a 42 mm titanium case with a slate grey dial and Arabic numerals. The blue-toned subdials offer a charming contrast with the grey-toned bezel and the titanium bracelet. The watch is run by Caliber 3126/3840, with a power reserve lasting up to 50 hours. With a chronograph and date function, the timepiece offers 100-metre water resistance as well.
Anant Ambani
Anant Ambani is the youngest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. He wore the Patek Philippe Nautilus Travel Time Off Catalogue (Ref. 5990) timepiece. The watch is known to be one of the rarest iterations of the Patek Philippe Nautilus. Featuring a 40.5 mm cushion-shaped case with a black dial, the watch is embellished with factory-set baguette diamonds and emeralds. The bezel and the links of the bracelet are studded with the finest emerald baguettes. The analog dial has luminescent hands and markers and a date display at 12 o'clock. The watch is powered by the Patek Philippe Calibre CH 28-520 C FUS automatic movement. The movement contains 34 jewels and is composed of 370 parts; it is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal caseback. The watch offers a power reserve of approximately 55 hours and is water-resistant for up to 120 metres. This rare watch is offered only to VIP clients of the Maison.
Sadhguru
Jaggi Vasudev, known across the world as Sadhguru, is an Indian yogi and mystic. For the occasion, Sadhguru was spotted wearing a Cartier Pasha Seatimer watch (Ref. W31077U2). The watch features a 40 mm stainless steel case, surrounding a black dial. It can be paired with a black rubber or stainless steel bracelet with a folding buckle. The diamond-shaped hands, Arabic numerals and radial stick hour markers shine brightly on the black dial that also features a date display between 4 o'clock and 5 o'clock. Run by the Cartier Calibre 049 automatic movement, the watch has about 42 hours of power reserve. The functions include hours, minutes, seconds and date. Water resistance is up to 100 metres.
