Bold & Brilliant: Zenith Unveils Chronomaster Sport Rainbow and DEFY Skyline Variants at LVMH Watch Week 2025

The El Primero movement is critical for Zenith because it symbolises a watershed moment in watchmaking history. Introduced in 1969, El Primero was one of the earliest automated chronograph movements ― a pioneer in the horological industry. Its high-frequency oscillation, estimated at 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph), enabled outstanding accuracy and precision, distinguishing it from other movements at that time. Needless to say, this movement became a symbol of Zenith's dedication to innovation and workmanship, reinforcing the brand's position as a Swiss watchmaking leader. At the ongoing LVMH Watch Week, the timepiece maker has added yet another feather to its cap ― it has unveiled the latest Chronomaster Sport Rainbow (Ref.45.3104.3600/21.M31000) variant and two references for DEFY Skyline Chronograph Skeleton, all powered by El Primero.

Zenith Chronomaster Sport Rainbow

This 41 mm 18 ct white god watch gets two pump-style chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock, along with a crown at 3 o’clock. The bezel is set in the 'Rainbow' style with 50 baguette-cut gemstones; the watch is bedecked with 1 ct of diamonds (10 baguettes) and 3.9 cts of sapphires (40 baguettes). The black-lacquered dial has three different-coloured counters ― a blue 60-second counter at 3 o'clock, an anthracite 60-minute counter at 6 o'clock, and a silver small seconds counter at 9 o'clock. A date window with a black background and white numeral is spotted at 4:30. A total of 0.46 cts of sapphires (12 baguettes) have been allotted for the hour markers. The rhodium-plated faceted hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova.

The central chronograph completes the dial rotation in just 10 seconds. Powering the watch is the El Primero 3600 automatic movement with a 60-hour power reserve. Turning the watch over showcases the open caseback revealing a blue column wheel and an open rotor with the five-pointed Zenith star. The 1/10th of a second movement operates at a high frequency of 5 Hz or 36,000 vph. ZENITH Chronomaster Sport Rainbow comes on an integrated brushed and polished 3-link white gold bracelet; it is secured by a safety double folding clasp.

DEFY Skyline Chronograph Skeleton

The 42 mm stainless steel models get a dodecagonal bezel, two chronograph pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock, and a crown at 3 o’clock. The skeleton novelties are offered with two dial options ― a black (Ref. 03.9500.3600/78.I001) one and a blue (Ref.  03.9500.3600/79.I0010) alternative on the mainplate. Each openworked dial gets a small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, a 60-minute counter at 6 o'clock, and a 60-second counter at 3 o'clock. The hour markers, and the hour and minute hands are rhodium-plated, faceted, and coated with Super-LumiNova.

The watches are powered by the El Primero 3600SK automatic movement, delivering a 60-hour power reserve. The open caseback of each watch is secured by four hexagonal screws; the star-shaped oscillating weights are rendered in a matching colour. The watches are finished on stainless steel bracelets. A dial-matching rubber strap with a stainless steel folding clasp is also available with each reference.
