Bell & Ross Reveals the New BR 05 Chrono Green Steel Timepiece

Green seems to be the preferred colour option for timepieces at the moment. And Bell & Ross is one of the leading luxury watch brands that do not shy away from experimenting with the colour. The Paris-based watchmaker has just launched the BR 05 Chrono Green Steel (Refs. BR05C-GN-ST/SST and BR05C-GN-ST/SRB) variant, in keeping with the ‘green’ trend in the world of horology.

Launched in 2019, the signature BR 05 collection was moulded with the basic design aesthetics of modern stainless steel sports watches; it was very much inspired by the BR03 collection. The Bell & Ross BR 05 Chrono Green Steel watch takes bits and pieces from previous iterations — particularly, the timepiece maker’s luxury sports watches — to create an impressive green-dial variant with an integrated design structure. Basically, the overall design code remains the same as that of the previous models.

The newly launched watch, with 100-metre water resistance, comes in a 42 mm stainless steel case with satin polished finishing; it has a screw-down crown, protected by lateral guards, at 3 o’clock and integrated rectangular pushers at 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock. The watch maintains the signature “rounded square” shape for its case and bezel that has four visible screws.

The green dial gets satin, sunray finishing with baton-shaped and Arabic hour markers, filled with Super-LumiNova®. It has metal skeletonised Super-LumiNova®-filled hour and minute hands, and a central second hand. The outer periphery of the watch consists of a white minute track. The display has a rounded date window at 4:30 with a green background and white numeral, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a small 60-second counter at 9 o’clock.

With its green dial, the new BR 05 Chrono Green Steel watch seems to harmonise two opposing worlds — Nature and urban life. Accentuating thickness (the watch is 14.25 mm thick) and emphasising elegant sophistication, the satin-brushed surfaces are perfectly flat while the bevels are polished. Powering the watch is the new Calibre BR-CAL.326. automatic movement, which is based on Sellita SW510, delivering a power reserve of approximately 56 hours, when fully wound. Turning the watch over showcases the sapphire crystal caseback with a 360° rotating oscillating weight and a skeletonised full disc, inspired by a car rim. The watch is finished either on an integrated steel bracelet or a textured green rubber strap with a satin polished stainless steel folding clasp.
