All Set to Enthral: Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and Salon de TIME

Hong Kong is no stranger to hosting mega trade fairs and events that draw visitors from all over the world. It is, after all, one of the biggest financial centres of the world. Come September, Hong Kong will welcome watch enthusiasts and traders from far and near at the 43rd Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, which will be held concurrently with the 12th Salon de TIME at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC).

The event is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd, and The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries Ltd. It is scheduled to take place between 3 and 7 September, 2024. Centred on the theme, ‘Be on Time’, the trade fair will adopt an exhibition + hybrid model. This will be complemented by ‘Click2Match’, an online business matching platform for traders that will be in operation from 27 August to 14 September.

From ultra-luxe models and high-fashion designs to sustainability-forward pieces and references based on highly advanced technological frameworks, the selection of timepieces at the fair is set to be vast and diverse. Visitors can also expect to spot limited editions, customised references, and one-of-a-kind pieces from independent watchmakers.

The various categories under which the timepieces will be exhibited include ‘Pageant of Eternity’ that will feature high-end exquisitely-finished models, ‘Complete Watches’, ‘Pre-owned Watches’, ‘Clocks’, ‘Machinery & Equipment’, ‘OEM Smart Watches’, ‘Packaging & Display’, ‘Parts, Components & Accessories’, and ‘Trade Services’.

Salone de TIME

Visitors at the salon can expect a wide range of offerings presented in five themed zones that are as follows:
-World Brand Piazza
, where limited editions and rare timepieces will be on display;
-Chic & Trendy that will feature trendsetters and fashion-driven watch brands, including Ice-Watch (Belgium), Infantry (Japan), ROMAGO (Switzerland), and Bruce Lee (US);
-Craft Treasure, where mechanical watches and jewellery-forward watches will be showcased, such as Anpassa (Hong Kong), Memorigin (Hong Kong), and SAGA (US); and
-Renaissance Moment
that will spotlight classic watch brands with European origins, including Pierre Lannier (France), Gagà MILANO (Italy), and Solvil et Titus (Switzerland).

Highlighted Watches

The Salon will be open to trade buyers and public visitors for the five-day physical fair period. Celebrity events, watch parades, and lucky draw sessions will be arranged as well.

Activities and Events

A bevy of watch parades, seminars, and networking events will be held during the fair period, offering the latest market insights. On 3 September, representatives of major watch associations will come together at the Hong Kong International Watch Forum to discuss the global trade performance, market trend forecasts for the coming year, and the watch industry’s sustainability strides. At the Asian Watch Conference on 4 September, market research analyses will examine the current state of the industry, in addition to deliberating upon the prospects of wearable technology integrated with healthcare and wellness. Emerging trends in the fashion watches category will also be discussed.

In a move to foster greater creativity, the HKTDC, the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Associations Ltd, and The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries Ltd. will jointly organise the 41st Hong Kong Watch & Clock Design Competition. The theme for the student group is ‘Talent Moment’ while the open group’s entries will be themed on ‘Go Beyond Innovation’.
