Time does not stand still for anyone. True, but at Watches and Wonders, it dances, dazzles, and dreams! Geneva has once again become the racing heart where history coexists with modernity, with each tick telling a tale.
Among the storytellers at the ongoing industry gala is Grand Seiko; it has unveiled a trio of timepieces that narrate how the watchmaker has created a horological symphony of craftsmanship, ingenuity, and imagination. The releases ― Spring Drive U.F.A (Ref. SLGB001 with a blue dial and Ref. SLGB003 with a silver-tinged blue dial), Tentagraph chronograph (Ref. SLGC009), and Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8-Day Jewellery Watch (Ref. SBGD223) ― seem to be writing the future of timekeeping in real time at the global watch event.
Spring Drive U.F.A.

It has been launched with two dial options ― Ref. SLGB001 has a blue dial and Ref. SLGB003 has a silver-tinged blue dial. The 37 mm Ref. SLGB001 has a platinum case, polished lugs, and a crown at 3 o'clock. This novelty features a blue dial with a pressed pattern inspired by the beauty of ice forests, offering a refined seamless glide motion of a silver-coloured seconds hand. There are applied hour markers, and a triple diamond design for 12 o'clock. The hour, minute hands are dauphine and there is a date window at 3 o'clock.

Turning the watch showcases the skeleton platinum caseback with the engraving of limited edition and the individual watch number out of 80. The watch is finished on a crocodile leather strap with a three-fold clasp aided by a push button release. The next reference is a 37 mm timepiece with a high intensity titanium case, lugs, and a crown at 3 o'clock. The dial with a pressed pattern, inspired by the beauty of ice forests, features a silver-tinged blue hue, accentuated by a tempered blue seconds hand. The textured dial captures the ice forests thanks to finishing techniques that create pale blue tones. This watch is finished on a bracelet and a three-fold clasp with push button release and micro-adjustment feature

Both novelties are powered by Calibre 9RB2 with a 72-hour power reserve. The movement boasts a level of precision defined by one year’s accuracy. The automatic U.F.A. movement has an astounding annual rate of ±20 seconds, making it the most accurate wristwatch movement powered by a mainspring. Also, common to both watches is the skeleton caseback with a power reserve indicator.
The Tentagraph

This 43 mm Brilliant Hard Titanium watch has an octagonal bezel, and two claw-like, hairline-finished pushers at 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock. They span a wider area that includes not only the lugs but also the bezel. On the side, the pushers have been updated to improve the chronograph function’s ease of use. The three-dimensional 30-minute subdial at 9 o'clock, the 12-hour subdial at 6 o'clock, and a running second subdial at 3 o'clock, resembling the sharp claws of a lion, elevate the dial aesthetics.

The diamond-cut hour markers have been made taller and shaped to hold sufficient Lumibrite for improved readability in any light condition. There are dauphin, enlarged hour, minute hands with a black-orange tippled central second hand. Powering this watch is Calibre 9SC5 with a 72-hour power reserve. Turning the watch showcases the titanium skeleton caseback with an oscillating weight. The watch is finished on a brown rubber strap with a three-fold clasp with push button release.
Masterpiece Collection Spring Drive 8-Day Jewellery Watch
The final watch has a 44.5 mm platinum case and a crown with a diamond. This jewellery watch features the timepiece maker's first-ever pavé diamond setting on the case and bezel. Diamonds of various sizes are arranged to fit together with matched heights. This setting on the platinum case can only be achieved through polishing the thin edges to ensure that they are as sharp.

Created through press patterning, the centre of the dial is inspired by a lion’s mane. The diamonds and black spinels surround the dial function as minute markers. These precious stones are evenly set around the arc of the dial within rails crafted in 18 ct white gold. The grey tempered seconds hand glides above the dial with dauphine hour, minute hands. In total, this watch has 649 diamonds. Driving the watch is Calibre 9R01 with 192 hours or 8 days of power reserve. The see-through caseback sports the engraving of ‘LIMITED EDITION’ and the serial number, along with a power reserve indicator. Finishing the watch is a black crocodile leather strap with a three-fold clasp with push button release.
