Dive back in Time: Oris Launches Three New Watches Inspired by the 1960s

Oris has unveiled three novelties in black (Ref. 733 7795 4054-Set), blue (Ref. 733 7795 4055-Set), and beige (Ref. 733 7795 4051-Set) as part of the upgraded Divers Date collection that has replaced the Divers Sixty-Five range.

In the 1960s, the world emerged from the shadows of war, with a new generation of thinkers and doers. With newfound creative and economic freedom and access to mass media, they transformed a dark world into a brighter future through daring art, music, film, fashion, and design, underscoring joy and ambition. This was the era of Sean Connery's James Bond, the late Alain Delon, Jane Birkin, The Beatles, Mary Quant, and the miniskirt. By then, Oris had established itself as one of the world's largest watch manufacturers, known for its attractive watch designs as well as performance and mechanical reliability. The just-launched Oris Divers Date novelties hark back to this particular period of boundless creativity.

Let’s now look at the watches’ specifications in greater detail. After almost a decade, the collection gets a new name, Divers Date. Retaining the vintage proportions, the collection comes in a 39 mm multi-piece stainless steel case, accompanied by a 60-minute, unidirectional, fluted, rotating bezel with a black ceramic insert and a crown at 3 o’clock. The collection also has a sapphire domed glass with three dial options in black, blue, and beige. Each watch has eight dotted and two rectangular (3 o’clock and 9 o’clock) hour markers, and a shield one at 12 o’clock, in addition to hour, minute, and lollipop second hands; all are filled with Super-LumiNova®. While the beige and blue dial versions have a black numeral date window on the watch face, the black dial novelty has a white numeral date window at 6 o’clock.

Powering the watches is Calibre Oris 733, an automatic movement based on Sellita SW200-1 with a 41-hour power reserve. Turning each watch over showcases the stainless steel, screwed, see-through mineral glass with a red oscillating weight. The watches are finished on multi-piece stainless steel metal bracelets, each with a folding clasp and quick strap change system. An additional black rubber strap with a stainless steel buckle is also available. The water resistance of the watches is measured at 200 metres. 

All in all, the new Divers Date timepieces do highlight their lineage and evoke nostalgia, underlining the exquisite craftsmanship and technical prowess of the luxury watch brand. By drawing on their past, these novelties are set to establish a deep emotional connection with their wearers.
